Invitation to launch – International Society for Olfaction and Chemical Sensing (ISOCS)

Nürnberg, Germany
8 May 2008

GOSPEL invites you to the definitive event for the olfaction and chemical sensing community at SENSOR+TEST 2008.

  • Explore the state of the art in artificial olfaction, including highly selective sensing
  • Discover new insights from biology impacting signal and data analysis
  • Get involved in the next stage of development for the olfaction and chemical sensing community

GOSPEL integrates the expertise of 25 research groups across Europe. It also works with more than 100 members from industry and academia worldwide.

Leading international speakers will highlight the culmination of many years’ research from this olfaction and chemical sensing community, including:

  • Sensors and instrumentation for highly selective sensing
  • Natural neural networks meeting artificial networks
  • Insights from biology – how sensor arrays work and transfer functions

GOSPEL invites you to join the new International Society for Olfaction and Chemical Sensing (ISOCS).  This launch event is an opportunity to learn about, and contribute to, the future direction of ISOCS and how it can best serve the needs of the community.

ISOCS builds on GOSPEL’s success. It will:

  • Promote interdisciplinary exchanges of ideas and information
  • Consolidate diverse expertise and improve skills for researchers
  • Assist in the commercialisation of research and technology developments

Programme

As well as discussion on the development of ISOCS, there will be presentations from international experts including:

  • Udo Weimar, IPC, University of Tübingen, Germany
  • Danick Briand, University of Neuchâtel IMT, Switzerland
  • Krishna Persaud, University of Manchester, UK
  • Malin Sandström,  KTH Nada, Sweden
  • Santiago Marco, Universitat de Barcelona, Spain
  • Rebecca Simpson, AO Action

This is a satellite event to Sensor+Test 2008, the fifteenth international trade fair for sensing, measurement and testing technologies.
